Headpiece Restoration
Expert restoration of vintage bridal headpieces and wedding crowns.
Restoration of vintage bridal headpieces and wedding crowns is Marie’s passion! Bringing these previously loved gems back to life is emotional for the bride and her family.
Marie has meticulously restored headpieces that generations old preservation companies have said couldn't be done, with some referring brides to her for wedding crown restoration.
With over 25 years of experience restoring old bridal crowns and headpieces, as early as the 1940s, she provides complete restoration services for vintage bridal headpieces and wedding crowns, including detailed deconstruction, repair, cleaning, and reconstruction and design. It is an intricate process and requires finding someone you trust with the proper knowledge and experience required to preserve the original elements and style of the piece.
1955 METAL ENAMEL BRIDAL CROWN
This unique heirloom crown came to me after a NYC millinery designer unsuccessfully tried to restore it (Photo #2). I fully restored it after stripping the craft paint and removing the glue. Five coats of fresh enamel, hand-sewn pearls, new rhinestones, and a handmade frame brought this back to life.
Our blog, The Family Crown, featured this crown restoration.
1948 BEADED CROWN
The most common problem with beaded crowns and headpieces from the 1950s is crushed frames and loss of stability and foundation. These old headpieces require millinery skills to add structure and repair so they can be worn worry-free on your wedding day. The results of restoring this piece are even more stunning, with Italy as the backdrop for Corinna’s luxurious wedding.

1960 PEARL WEDDING CROWN
Ashley drove from New Hampshire to see if her grandmother’s 1960 wedding crown could be restored. Ashley’s mom then wore it in 1992. Although she loved her family heirloom, she didn’t love the idea of wearing it as a circlet on the top of her head. I restored her family crown to its original beauty and slightly altered it to open it up and to give it pitch.
Her photos look like she walked out of a fairytale, as seen on this Blog.
1987 AB CRYSTAL HEADPIECE AND BEADED WEDDING VEIL
This was my favorite vintage headpiece and bridal veil restoration in all of my career. Mary loved so much about her mom’s crystal crown and wedding veil, but was uncertain how to make it work for her wedding day. It came with all of the problems 80s headpieces bring–bulk, globs of glue, poor construction, and a veil in need of repair. This headpiece and veil had an unusual, stylish character for its time.
Once restored, the results were breathtaking and can be seen on this Blog.
1964 CRYSTAL AND PEARL WEDDING CROWN
Kaitlyn hoped to be the third generation to wear her family heirloom wedding crown. When she brought it to me, it was golden in color from hairspray damage and oxidized epoxy. This crown was stripped down and every crystal cleaned, only to be restored into the most stunning family crown to be cherished for a lifetime.
Kaitlyn’s story is seen on this Instagram Reel.
1959 BEADED WEDDING CROWN
Rebecca wanted to wear her grandmother’s vintage wedding crown. The crown was crushed and lacked stability. In addition to restoration work, it needed adjustment to fit properly and work with Rebecca’s hairstyle.
Her Philadelphia wedding was filled with grandeur and featured on this Blog.
