1955 Metal Enamel Bridal Crown

This unique heirloom crown came to me after a NYC millinery designer unsuccessfully tried to restore it (Photo #2). I fully restored it after stripping the craft paint and removing the glue. Five coats of fresh enamel, hand-sewn pearls, new rhinestones, and a handmade frame brought this back to life. Our blog, Fourteenth: The Family Crown, featured this crown restoration.

1952 OLD CAP STYLE LAce HEADPIECE

Rarely do I come across an old headpiece I can’t restore. When this bride came to me, I told her it would be a miracle if I could save her maternal grandmother’s headpiece. It was stained and torn with the most fragile lace I had ever seen. Vitina wanted to wear it, but it was too big for her head in addition to its deterioration. I designed a more petite frame, stabilized the brittle lace, repaired the tear, and hand-sewed the pearls. Her grandmother would have loved to see her wear this beautiful vintage bridal cap. Vitina's gorgeous Cape May, NJ wedding can be seen on our blog, Fourteenth: My Nanny Wore it First.

1966 Two Tier Wedding Crown

Julianna came to us to restore her grandmother’s two-tier pearl and rhinestone crown. Two-tier crowns were so popular in the '60s and among the most beautiful, in my opinion. The rhinestone trim was tarnished, missing rhinestones and pearls, and the frame was collapsing, with evidence of inexperienced repairs. I believe this restoration to be even more beautiful than the day it was originally worn.

1948 Beaded Crown

The most common problem with beaded crowns and headpieces from the 1950s is crushed frames and loss of stability and foundation. These old headpieces require millinery skills to add structure and repair so they can be worn worry-free on your wedding day. The results of restoring this piece are even more stunning, with Italy as the backdrop for Corinna’s luxurious wedding found on our blog, Fourteenth: The Beauty of Restoring Old Beaded Wedding Crowns.
